About Alexa...

This is how it all began

Alexa was a highly competitive soccer player in her teens, playing midfield at the nation’s highest level in the Elite Clubs National League, until injuries struck. After tearing the ACL in her right and left knees within 10 months, Alexa left the field as an athlete and reentered as a broadcaster.

At the age of 17, Alexa decided to follow her dream and test the waters as a sports broadcaster. Every Friday night she traveled to the high school football game with the highest profile athletes and began practicing her interview skills. She wrote her own questions, edited her own work, and used her mom as her cameraman. She created a YouTube channel and used the power of social media to release her packages weekly. This experience solidified her love for broadcasting. These interviews opened the first door for Alexa as Sports Recruits, an internet recruiting company with over 150K Instagram followers, began posting her interviews. While still in high school, Alexa interviewed athletes at numerous 7v7 tournaments, high school CIF SS Championship games, Elite 11 Finals in California and Oregon, and the Army All-American Bowl in Texas.

College Experiences

During Alexa’s first year at TCU, she approached the football department to collaborate and pitched ideas to Head Football Coach Gary Patterson. She was given the opportunity to interview high school recruits before TCU home games, on official visits, and during Junior Days.

After starting small and proving herself, Alexa’s role with the team continued to expand over the next two years. She covered Pro Day, hosted Signing Day Live, and produced various packages for TCU Football on social media. She also began hosting the Big 12 Look-In, which is part of the screen show broadcasted inside Amon G Carter stadium during TCU home football games. Alexa became the co-host on "Horned Frogs Nation", where she wrote and reported her own segment called Sports Report, reviewing the highlights for all of TCU Athletics, as well as one on one interviews with athletes. The show aired weekly on FOX Sports Southwest.

Finally, during Alexa’s senior year she worked as the TCU Football In-Stadium Reporter and Host, and continued to work as the co-host on “Horned Frogs Nation”. She also took great pride in creating and hosting two new social media shows for TCU Athletics, “Rookie Roll Call”, a series getting to know the incoming TCU Basketball players, and “The 817”, a weekly show talking about TCU athletics while highlighting areas in and around the Fort Worth area.

Alexa graduated in December 2018 from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Broadcasting with a minor in Journalism.

Professional Development

In the spring of her sophomore year in college, Alexa landed an internship with FOX Sports Southwest. She worked behind the scenes logging video tape but she took every opportunity to do and learn more. Shadowing talent and assisting producers every opportunity she could get, she gained experience and created relationships. Those relationships led to new opportunities.

In 2017 and 2018, Alexa worked as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports Southwest covering Texas high school football games.  Her interviews and commentary were featured weekly on the highly rated “High School Scoreboard Live“ show.  Alexa also worked as the courtside reporter for the WNBA Dallas Wings for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Alexa worked two college football games during the 2018 Bowl season. She acted as the In-Stadium Host & Reporter for the CFP Semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic between Clemson and Notre Dame at AT&T Stadium. She also served as the sideline reporter at the Cheez-It Bowl in Phoenix, AZ for TCU Football’s radio coverage.

In July 2019, Alexa made the move across country to Washington DC to become co-host of “DC Sports Live“, a multi platform sports talk and entertainment program, for NBC Sports Washington.

In 2021, Alexa began her new role with NBC Sports Washington as host of the Washington Capitals Pre/Post game shows.

A little about Alexa

Alexa was born and raised in Valencia, California, a suburb of Los Angeles, with her older brother Tyler and parents, Tim and Kathy, who have been married for 30 years. Alexa has a large, close-knit extended family with numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins whom she truly values.

Alexa is a sportsaholic, who grew up watching and playing numerous sports. She attributes her vast sports knowledge to her dad, an LAPD detective for over 30 years, who is a walking sports encyclopedia. Alexa’s comfort on a football field is a result of spending her Friday nights since birth at high school football games, cheering on her Uncle who has been a head coach for over 30 years. As a true Southern California girl, Alexa loves the sun and the beach, but also has a passion for sports, travel, fitness, fashion, and her beloved Horned Frogs.
