About Alexa...

Alexa was born and raised in Valencia, California, a suburb of Los Angeles with her parents, Tim & Kathy, brother, Tyler and large extended family whom she adores. She is a sportsaholic, who grew up watching and playing just about every sport. She has a vast sports knowledge which she attributes to her dad, a retired LAPD detective for over 34 years, who is a walking sports encyclopedia. Alexa’s comfort on a football field at an early age is a result of spending her Friday nights since birth at high school football games, cheering on her Uncle (Jim Benkert) who has been a head coach for over 35 years.

Alexa made the journey to Texas for college where she graduated in 3 1/2 years from Texas Christian University. Upon graduation, her new job brought a relocation to her current home, Washington DC. In August 2021, she married Michael Landestoy, her college sweetheart, and current Pro Scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In April 2025, Alexa and Michael welcomed their first child, her pride and joy, a beautiful baby girl named Isabella Rae.

Alexa is passionate about her family, travel, the beach, fashion, fitness, fish tacos, spicy margaritas, and all things sports. You'll often find her cheering on some of her favorites... the LA Chargers, Washington Capitals, TCU Horned Frogs, and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc F1 Racing team.

Professional Development

In July 2019, Alexa made the move across the country to Washington DC to work at NBC Sports Washington. There she hosted “DC Sports Live“, a multi platform sports talk and entertainment program. In 2020, she began her new role as host of the Washington Capitals Pre/Post game shows. She also hosts the weekly magazine show featuring the Capitals called "Caps Red Line".

Alexa brings energy, insight, and chemistry to the Capital's broadcast alongside her analyst, Alan May. Her on-air style is often described as warm, engaging, and relatable, while still sharp and professional. As a huge sports fan herself, Alexa loves to show the excitement to match the energy of the game and prides herself on framing questions and analysis the way a viewer at home might think about the game.

In the 2023-24 NHL season, Alexa expanded her reach by joining the NHL Network's studio lineup, hosting programs like "On The Fly" as well as "Stanley Cup Live" while continuing her Capitals coverage.

In the fall of 2025 Alexa's professional experience came full circle as she began her most recent role as Sideline Reporter for College Football on Fox, adding yet another sport she loves to her resume.

Landestoy received the Cynopsis Media Awards "All Star" recognition for moving the sports media industry forward through outstanding work. In addition, she has earned one National (2020 Tokyo Olympics) and four Regional (Washington Capitals) Emmy Awards for her broadcasting work.

college experiences

During Alexa’s first year at TCU, she approached the football department to collaborate and pitched ideas to Head Football Coach Gary Patterson. Due to her tenacity, she was given the opportunity to interview high school recruits before TCU home games, on official visits, and during Junior Days.

After starting small and proving herself to the athletics department, Alexa’s role with the team continued to expand over the next two years. She covered Pro Day, hosted Signing Day Live, and produced various packages for TCU Football on social media. She also began hosting the Big 12 Look-In, which is part of the screen show broadcasted inside Amon G Carter stadium during TCU home football games. Alexa became the co-host on "Horned Frogs Nation", where she produced her own segment called Sports Report, reviewing the highlights for all of TCU Athletics, as well as one on one interviews with athletes. The show aired weekly on FOX Sports Southwest.

In the spring of her sophomore year in college, Alexa landed an internship with FOX Sports Southwest. She worked behind the scenes logging video tape but she took every opportunity to do and learn more. Shadowing talent and assisting producers every opportunity she could get, she gained experience and created relationships. Those relationships led to new opportunities, reporting for both the WNBA Dallas Wings and Texas High School Football on FSSW.

Finally, during Alexa’s senior year she worked as the TCU Football In-Stadium Reporter and Host, while continuing to work as co-host on “Horned Frogs Nation”. She also took great pride in creating and hosting two new social media shows for TCU Athletics, “Rookie Roll Call”, a series getting to know the incoming TCU Basketball players, and “The 817”, a weekly show talking about TCU athletics while highlighting areas in and around the Fort Worth area.

Alexa graduated in December 2018 from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Broadcasting with a minor in Journalism.

how it all began

Alexa was a soccer player in her teens, playing midfield at the nation’s highest level in the Elite Clubs National League, until injuries struck. After tearing the ACL in her right AND left knees just 10 months apart, Alexa decided to follow her dream and test the waters as a sports broadcaster. Every Friday night she traveled to the high school football game with the highest profile player and began practicing her interview skills. She watched the game from the stands, wrote her own questions, and hopped the fence to get on the field postgame to conduct her interview. Landestoy edited her own work, and used her mom as her cameraman. She created a YouTube channel and used the power of social media to release her packages weekly. This experience solidified her love for broadcasting. These interviews opened the first door for Alexa as Sports Recruits, an internet recruiting company with a large following on Twitter & Instagram, began posting her interviews. While still in high school, Alexa interviewed athletes at numerous 7v7 tournaments, high school CIF SS Championship games, Elite 11 Finals in California and Oregon, and the Army All-American Bowl in Texas.
